There have been various leaks of AMDs upcoming processors over the past month, but the first pictures were leaked by Videocardz, confirming that AMD is likely getting ready to unveil its new line-up of CPUs and APUs.
The Ryzen 7 4700G is based on the same dye as in its recently released Ryzen 4000 ‘Renoir’ Mobile CPU line-up, but the Ryzen 4000 series on the AM4 family has been aimed at the desktop platform but with major improvements over its Zen+ predecessors. The upgrades being in the form of 7nm design that includes the 7nm Zen 2 cores and an improved 7nm Vega GPU core
On the above image we can clearly see this processors OPN code ‘100-000000146’ that was listed on the leaked OPN code and Specifications list a few days before this image surfaced.
Now the 4700G features an 8 core 16 thread CPU with 3.6GHz base clock and 4.4GHz boost clock this is twice the core count compared to the Ryzen 5 3400G, but the insane thing about this new APU isn’t its cores or its clock speeds but its Vega iGPU, in this case on the Ryzen 7 4700G we are looking at a 2.1GHz clock speeds which is a 20% increase over its Vega 8 graphics clocked at 1.7GHZ or 1750MHz. The other parts of these SKUs feature the same 4-8 cores with a TDP of 35W or 65W, requiring a recommended 3200MHz memory stick, but to completely take advantage of the Ryzen 7 4700G, a higher frequency RAM to feed it as much bandwidth as possible is recommended.
Although we still have to consider the price of the extra number of cores and threads. The prices are not announced yet but its estimated to be around $200-$250 for the 8 core and $150-$200 for the 4 core variants, as we have seen similar pricing strategy with the AMD Ryzen 3000 CPUs, the 8 core Ryzen 7 3700X starting from $275 US.
