Asus ROG 3 officially launched in India on August 6, 2020 like we reported. Asus started with its Android based gaming phone series under the ROG head back in 2018. Although today we see some competitors in the gaming sector like the Shark, Vivo IQOO and Nubia still Asus stands out to be the one which ticks the most number of boxes comparatively. This article would be focussing on 2 things of the Asus ROG 3: the basic features and the gaming experience.
Asus ROG 3 Basic Feature
The Asus ROG 3 comes with the latest and world’s fastest Qualcomm SM8250 Snapdragon 865+ processor at its core with 12 GB RAM with its variations in the memory slot. The camera setup of the new device is also very impressive as we compare it with the ROG 2 of last year. It comes with a triple camera setup at the rear with main camera of 64 MP, Ultra-wide of 13MP and Macro of 5MP as compared to the predecessor which had a dual camera setup of 48+13 MP. The body of the newer version is made up of Gorilla Glass on the front as well as the back.
The most mind-blowing feature of this ASUS ROG 3 is the beast of a 144Hz refresh rate with a 6000 mAh battery. So, the refresh rate of 144 Hz has been available to a few android phones earlier but this refresh rate along with such beast features has been clubbed for the first time in Android.
Gaming vs Everyday use
If you’re planning to buy a premium top the class android phone but after listening to the gaming feature of ROG 3 you decide not to go for it as you never do mobile gaming then don’t do that mistake at all. The reason being though that ASUS ROG 3 is stuffed with the best android features you can ever get the phone is not just a gaming device it is much more than that. The phone is a win win even if you don’t game on it and just use it for day to day use as the phone has got top the line features which makes it a great buy even for day to day use.
For example, the most sought-after features that a regular android buyer wishes for is a good camera quality, good audio output, a HD video recording and a crisp display to binge watch OTT for hours.
Asus ROG 3 will tick the boxes of all these categories. Let’s start with the display which is 6.59 inches AMOLED display with 1080x2340px resolution on which you can watch the HD content of OTT platforms with leisure. The camera like I mentioned earlier comes with a triple camera setup for wide angle as well as macro photography. The photos clicked on this set would be on par with what you call as a decently detailed photo.
The audio output which the device is going to give will be quite high and impressive because of the hardware which is being used for the same. The phone is equipped with Dual 7-magnet front-facing speakers, dual NXP TFA9874 amplifiers and a Hi-Res audio output. This audio output clubbed with your display will give you an immersive viewing experience for sure.
Hidden 160 Hz Refresh rate
Asus ROG Phone 3 has a secret 160Hz refresh rate that can be unlocked using the Android Debug Bridge (ADB) command-line tool. Launched in India last week, the flagship gaming phone comes with a refresh rate of 144Hz on paper. The Taiwanese tech giant has also confirmed the existence of the advanced refresh rate option, which it says is only meant for internal testing and not for end-users. The phone’s display, however, has not been calibrated to suit a refresh rate of 160Hz.
