Apple Inc. made a surprise announcement on 18 March, 2020 regarding the launch of its new version of MacBook Air and iPad Pro, but for some reason did not reveal the status of its most awaited iPhone 9 (SE). The announcement was disclosed in the form of a press release instead of its traditional March keynote presentation, apparently due to the coronavirus outbreak which could have prolonged the launch to a indefinite duration.
Apple’s New MacBook Air is an updated version of its predecessor, with its reconditioned Magic Keyboard over the annoying Butterfly keyboard; better processor and increased storage at a cheaper $999 (₹92,990).
Featuring the latest 10th-generation Intel Core processors up to 1.2GHz quad-core Core i7 with Turbo Boost speeds up to 3.8GHz, MacBook Air delivers up to two times faster performance when compared to the previous generation. And with Intel Iris Plus Graphics, MacBook Air now delivers up to 80 percent faster graphics performance, so graphics-intensive activities like playing games and editing video are faster than ever.
Similarly on the other hand, the new iPad Pro is a power boost with its most advanced chipset, and an updated RAM. The eight-core GPU in the A12Z Bionic, along with an enhanced thermal architecture and tuned performance controllers, gives iPad Pro the highest performance ever in an iPad or an iPhone for that matter. The recent Antutu results shows a total 712,212 benchmark score, highest by any handheld device ever. Such a result could only possibly be challenged by the next gen iPhone processor.
Along with it, the iPad also focuses keenly on the camera setup. The Pro camera system on iPad Pro features a 12MP Wide camera for capturing stunning photos and 4K video, and now includes a 10MP Ultra Wide camera that zooms out two times to capture a much wider field of view. Adding a second camera doubles the photo and video possibilities, enabling different perspectives and multi-camera use — a game changer for creative pros.
The 11-inch iPad Pro starts at INR 71900 for the Wi-Fi model and INR 85900 for the Wi-Fi + Cellular model, and the 12.9-inch iPad Pro starts at INR 89900 for the Wi-Fi model and INR 103900 for the Wi-Fi + Cellular model.
Senior VP of Software Engineering for Apple, Craig Federighi also commented on the launch, stating that the new iPad has been made even more versatile and capable due to the addition of trackpad support to the iPadOS. He added that this technology is the product of careful consideration regarding ways to integrate trackpad support into a touch-first device, whilst maintaining the features that make the iPad a popular product among customers.
